10 Celebrity Plastic Surgery Fails Everyone Wants to Avoid

Celebrities are notorious for getting cosmetic surgeries, which is why each of their botched plastic surgeries made instant headlines. Though plastic surgery has certainly benefitted many personalities and propelled them to stardom, too much enhancement can have the exact opposite effect.

Take a look at 10 of the most infamous celebrity plastic surgery fails that ended up as cautionary tales to anyone contemplating a simple nose or boob job.

10. Heidi Montag

Having one plastic surgery is one thing, but becoming addicted to it is another.

Such is the plight of former reality TV star Heidi Montag, who underwent nearly a dozen cosmetic surgeries even though she didn’t need them. Some of these surgeries included a rhinoplasty, otoplasty, and breast augmentation. It was a total transformation.

But these changes eventually took a toll on her health. She experienced numbness on her arms due to pinched nerves, plus excruciating pain on her neck and back due to a ruptured disc and muscular and spinal damage. She also encountered problems with her implants, leading her to downgrade her F-cup implants to D-cup.

Though she doesn’t regret her surgeries, she also said that she wouldn’t do them again, if given a chance.

9. Mickey Rourke

To be fair, this once fine and dandy man smashed up his face due to professional boxing, requiring him to undergo reconstructive surgery.

“I had my nose broken twice. I had five operations on my nose and one on a smashed cheekbone,” Mickey Rourke said in a 2009 interview with MailOnline. “Most of it was to mend the mess of my face because of the boxing, but I went to the wrong guy to put my face back together.”

Some of his suspected plastic surgeries through the years included facelift, upper eye lift, and even a hair transplant.

Thankfully, he’s been looking a lot better in recent years.

8. Meg Ryan

Meg Ryan hasn’t confirmed that she’d had plastic surgery but based on her dramatic difference in appearance, it surely looks like she’s done too much work on her face.

A plastic surgeon looking at Ryan’s latest photos suspected that she’s had filler or fats injected on her cheeks, making the apples of her cheeks appear too full. Her nose also appears narrower, and her lips also have more volume than her previous look. Even her face shape has slightly changed, indicating a possible facelift.

And of course, there’s good old Botox that softened the fine lines of her forehead, making her appear eerily wrinkle-free and so different from the actress who played lead roles in many unforgettable ‘90s rom-coms.

7. Melanie Griffith

Alcohol, drugs, divorces, and plastic surgery – all of these have played a part in Melanie Griffith’s turbulent life. Although she has yet to admit that she’s undergone numerous plastic surgeries throughout her life, the differences are rather striking.

In 1999, then husband Antonio Banderas allegedly told an interviewer: “I have forbidden her from going to a cosmetic surgeon again.” This was after rumors of her getting lip fillers, a facelift, and upper eyelift circulated in gossip magazines.

It also appears that she’s become reliant to Botox, as evidenced by her shiny and almost unlined face even at her 50s.

Good thing she has eased up on her plastic surgeries lately – but the damage has been done.

6. Tara Reid

Even sexy sweetheart Tara Reid from American Pie was a victim of botched plastic surgery.

In 2004, she underwent breast augmentation and liposuction, which left her boobs bumpy and her tummy all full of ripples. “I had body contouring, but it all went wrong. My stomach became the most ripply, bulgy thing,” she said in an interview. Needless to say, it shattered her confidence.

Fortunately, she decided to undergo reconstructive surgery in 2006, which allowed her to correct the mistakes of her previous plastic surgery that nearly disfigured her. She was even able to post for Playboy in 2009.

5. Lil’ Kim

After her plastic surgeries, rapper and songwriter Lil’ Kim was just a completely different person.

Not only did she bleach her ebony skin white, but she also made some changes to her eyes, nose, cheeks, and jawline.

According to a board-certified surgeon, Lil’ Kim “have had to have surgery to remove the fat, skin, and tissue to create this new eye shape,” which is now elongated. Her jawline now looks more chiseled, and her cheeks look stuffed with filler.

Her numerous nose jobs were not a secret, as she first had a rhinoplasty when an ex-boyfriend broke her nose.

But no matter what other people yap about her appearance, Lil’ Kim just shrugged them all off: “It doesn’t bother me because I’m beautiful! I love myself.”

4. Donatella Versace

Versace vice president and chief designer Donatella Versace has had plastic surgeries since the 1990s, and it shows – in a rather unpleasant way.

Instead of enhancing her looks, her series of cosmetic surgeries has left her face quite unrecognizable compared to photos of her younger years. Her glassy forehead and unnaturally wrinkle-free face show that she’s had too much Botox. Her lips and cheeks also appear to have had a little too much filler injection, and even her eyebrows had become noticeably lowered over time.

Versace might have made every list of plastic surgery fails over the years, but there’s no real evidence that she is unhappy with these changes.

3. Amanda Lepore

Model and artist Amanda Lepore started everything with a sex reassignment surgery at 19 years old, so every plastic surgery that came after it was pretty much expected – three breast augmentation surgeries and buttock implants.

But what could be regarded as extreme was the fact that she had her bottom floating ribs broken to achieve a smaller waist. The result? A 38-22-38 figure.

The plastic surgeries don’t stop on her body. Through the years, she’s also had lip injections, Botox, fillers, a nose job, a forehead lift, and a lowered hairline.

With all these procedures, no wonder she’s been dubbed as ‘The Most Expensive Body on Earth.’

2. Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner

Before former athlete and reality TV star Bruce Jenner finally pushed the button and became Caitlyn Jenner, he’s sported some rather weird looks over the years – thanks to multiple plastic surgeries.

After undergoing hormone therapy in the mid-1980s to get rid of his ‘repulsive hair,’ Jenner got a rhinoplasty and facelift in 1984 – a move that his stepdaughter Kim Kardashian labeled as ‘ill-advised.’

Before the turn of the millennium, Jenner admitted he’d had at least six facial plastic surgeries done. His appearance continued to change over the course of his reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, as he got breast implants, lip fillers, and had his Adam’s apple shaved.

The result? Caitlyn Jenner.

1. Michael Jackson

Perhaps there isn’t a more fitting example of what too much plastic surgery can do than the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson.

Jackson’s plastic surgery addiction spanned 30 years and 100 operations – starting from a simple rhinoplasty down to Botox, fillers, lip augmentation, cheek implants, skin bleaching and cleft chin operation. He had numerous procedures done on his nose alone, as previous rhinoplasties left him with extremely narrow airways that gave him breathing difficulties.

All these procedures resulted in a completely different appearance, obliterating his original features and even his ethnicity.

Fortunately, not all plastic surgeries end up like those mentioned above. With realistic expectations coupled with the right choice of board-certified plastic surgeons, you can still get plastic surgeries that can enhance your appearance and boost your self-esteem.
