Here’s Why the Hospital is the Best Place to Get Your Plastic Surgery
When it comes to safety, I’d never trade the hospital for a plastic surgery clinic, even if the latter’s cheaper.
Here’s why:
They’re better equipped than clinics.
Granted that plastic surgery complications are rare, it’s still an operation that comes with its own set of risks, regardless of your surgeon’s expertise.
Doing your cosmetic surgery in a hospital gives you the peace of mind that whatever happens, you’re surrounded by qualified practitioners and essential equipment — all ready to assist you should something happen.
In other words, you’re in the safest environment possible for your surgery.
You can get general anesthesia without a hitch.
Do you know the reason why most plastic surgeons use a combination of local anesthesia and intravenous sedation for their surgeries? It’s because they don’t have the necessary anesthesia equipment in their clinics.
Usually, there’s no problem with such practice. But there have been cases of lidocaine toxicity among patients who had an overdose of local anesthesia during their plastic surgeries.
If you get your surgery in a hospital, you can have your operation under general anesthesia. Your anesthesiologist will insert an anesthetic ventilator in your airway while you’re asleep so that you’re in your most comfortable state possible.
You have 24/7 access to post-operative care.
The thing with plastic surgery clinics is that they only do outpatient procedures. So when you get your breast augmentation in the morning, you have to go home at the end of the day and recuperate at home.
But if you’re in a hospital, you have the option of staying overnight or until you’re ready to go home. Licensed medical and nursing staff can monitor your condition and attend to your needs better.
