What Does He Think About Your Liposuction Procedure?

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery that is designed to break up the fat from various regions of the body and then remove that fat from those areas. It is also referred to as “Lipoplasty”, “Lipo”, and even “Liposculpture Suction Lipectomy”. The most common regions for liposuction include, but are not limited to, the abdominal
region, the buttocks, the thigh region, the neck and chin, the upper regions of the arms, and the back of the body, as well as the calves. While this is a common procedure for both men and women, it is much more common among the female population. As a result, many men have varying opinions and attitudes towards liposuction in women.
“Liposuction is for the Lazy”
One of the most common opinions among men towards women that elect to have liposuction is the procedure is designed for the “lazy”. Many men believe that, if a person wants to optimize their appearance by eliminating body fat, they should do it the “old-fashioned” way, through diet and exercise. However, many men simply do not realize that liposuction is a procedure for individuals that have a stable or average body weight. Many people find that, as they age, and experience certain events in life – such as pregnancy, menopause, or drastic weight loss – that fat deposits may start to develop in certain areas of the body. Liposuction is designed to remove these fat deposits. It is not considered to be a way to lose weight, and it certainly is not considered to be a treatment technique for individuals that are considered to be overweight or medically obese. It is simply a cosmetic procedure that is designed to change and/or optimize the overall contour of a person’s body. Once a man realizes this, his opinion that the procedure is designed for the “lazy” is quickly eliminated.
“Liposuction is Only for Insecure Women”

Many men hold the opinion that liposuction cosmetic surgery is chosen by women who are insecure. While it may be true that many women who have undergone this procedure did not feel great about their personal appearance, women who are highly secure about themselves and their appearance often elect to have the procedure performed. Many women value themselves so highly that they feel they are worth the expense of the procedure.
“Liposuction is Too Dangerous”
Some men believe that liposuction is too dangerous and risky a procedure to have simply to optimize one’s appearance. While it is true that liposuction does carry some possible risks – such as reacting adversely to the anesthesia provided, the development of excess bleeding, and the possibility of infection occurring – it is no more dangerous than any other type of surgery. Men that do not understand the procedure, lack knowledge about the success rates, and have only heard sensationalized media stories, are typically the ones that feel as if liposuction is too dangerous. Men that are thoroughly educated on the procedure, learn that the risks are no more than with standard surgeries, and understand the true benefits of the procedure often change their opinion on the danger of the treatment.
As men take the time to understand why their female counterparts want to have the procedure, they begin to understand its benefits. In fact, it is not at all unusual to find that these men subsequently choose to have the procedure themselves.
If you have made the decision to have liposuction and you are experiencing push-back from a male in your life, take the time to explain the procedure, your reasons for having the procedure, and answer any questions that he may have. With clear communication, you may see that negative attitude transformed into a supportive and understanding one.
