At the recommendation of the Chair in the Department of Surgery, Nidal Masri MD and Mark Broudo MD are recently appointed as Assistant Professors at the Florida International University, Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (FIU HWCOM).
This initial appointment is effective from February 11, 2019 to February 10, 2025 and is renewable for additional academic years at the discretion of the Department Chair and upon approval of the Dean. University policy indicates that a Community Based Faculty appointment is non-tenure earning and carries no financial obligation on the part of the University.
Community Based Faculty appointments are typically reserved for physicians with primarily patient care responsibilities. The Community Based Faculty members are expected to teach FIU-HWCOM medical students under the direction of the Department Chair.
