According to the 2016 statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the average cost of breast reduction in the United States is $5,631.
In Florida medical tourism, it can range anywhere from $3,000 to $8,000 depending on various factors, like insurance contract, breast size, surgery duration, and selected plastic surgeon.
A lot of people seeking breast reduction surgery are concerned about the costs.
It’s very hard to pinpoint for our part to really pinning down an exact price of breast reduction surgery.
There’s a lot that has to do with it.
Primarily it’s whether or not, number one, this is a procedure that’s going to be covered by your insurance company, or, number two, is it an out-of-pocket self-pay situation where actually you are responsible for all the other fees associated with the procedure.
Now only your doctor or your insurance company can tell you whether or not the procedure is a covered benefit under your insurance policy.
That’s number one, and given the fact that some insurance policies have deductibles.
Well even if you have insurance there’s always the possibility that you’ll still have some out-of-pocket expenses.
Now the second part of that is, if it is an out-of-pocket expense, how much does it cost. And that cost is really based on not only what part of the country you’re in, but where you’re having the procedure, in terms of: what type of facility and what’s involved.
So, to make that a little more specific, some doctors operate in their offices, they have an operating room in their office, some operate in outpatient facilities, which is basically a center that’s just designed to do operative procedures, and some doctors prefer to only operate in the hospitals.
I’m one of those doctors prefer to operate in a hospital.
So with any of those scenarios there’s typically a fee for anesthesia, which is a doctor, a health care provider, who puts you to sleep. And there’s a fee associated with the facility, which means the operating movements. So there’s the cost associated with that as with the cost of possibly staying overnight. Some people do stay overnight, and that’s based on whatever their medical history or current medical situation may be, may require them an overnight stay.
The only way to ascertain that information is by checking with your plastic surgeon or your insurance company and they will give you a better indication of those fees associated with those issues.
